General American History

 

America: History and Life. Contains abstracts of articles, book reviews, and dissertations on historical topics in U.S. and Canada, many with links to full text. The abstracts note which historical period, in years, each item covers. America’s Historical Newspapers. Covers the period between 1690 and 1922. Various other newspaper databases from around the country (e.g., Chicago, New York, Atlanta) are also available in electronic databases. History Cooperative. Offers full text of articles from a wide variety of historical journals, along with conference papers and the Booker T. Washington Papers Online. In the First Person. Indexes thousands of letters, diaries, oral histories, and personal narratives. Copyrighted materials may be purchased by subscription.     American Women’s History   Women and Social Movements in the United States, 1600-2000. Contains full-text documents and images relevant to women’s studies and U.S. history. The scope of the original material contained in the database is 1775-2000.     History of Minorities in America   Black Studies Database: Kaiser Index to Black Resources. An index to journal articles, reports, newspapers, newsletters, and pamphlets. Black Thought and Culture. Full-text published nonfiction works of leading black Americans. Also includes biographical essays and annotated bibliographies. Ethnic Newswatch and ENW: A History. These databases cover U.S. ethnic group newspaper articles.
